Gratis is a 501c(3) registered, non-profit app that allows users to connect with their family and friends in a shared effort to support charities and to express gratitude towards one another. With Gratis, a user is able to express gratitude towards their family and friends for acts of kindness by donating to a charity of their choice. The app also allows a user to invite friends and family to support their chosen charity instead of receiving a gift for a variety of life events, such as a birthday or graduation.

The app allows each user to select their own charity of choice by picking from a variety of charities that represent different needs, such as disaster relief, mental health, food insecurity, and gender inequity.

What is Gratis?

Gratis is a brilliant concept that gives you an opportunity to practice gratitude. When someone does something nice for you, you can pay it forward by donating to a charity on their behalf. You can also request friends and family to donate to your favorite charity instead of receiving a gift on your birthday, anniversary, and other special events. With Gratis you are making the world a better place, one donation at a time.

How are the charities selected?

Gratis has partnered with Global Giving which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the United States that supports charitable projects around the world. Charities have been selected to support a variety of causes, from education to disaster relief to gender equality to climate change. They have been hand-picked to ensure that they are effective, top-ranked, and have a big impact. At this time, we are unable to allow the user to hand-pick the charity of their choice. This creates several regulatory and logistical issues which we cannot currently support. We hope this may become available in future versions of the app.

Does Gratis take a cut from my donation?

No, Gratis does not take any portion of the donation itself.

How can I invite my friends and family members to join Gratis?

You can invite others by selecting a contact and then sending them a message via text or email with an invitation to upload the app. You can also share a link to the app on social media.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, your donations via Gratis are tax-deductible. You will receive an email receipt for every donation you make.
